WHY IS IT SO HARD TO GET STARTED?

If I could count the times I have procrastinated I would be a millionaire by now. It’s been a journey to learn about why and now I want to help you.

You know those times where you prioritise everything and everyone before yourself. You think you’re doing the “right thing” looking after others first but actually all you are showing them is that you come last.

Jeez even the dog has taken priority on some days!

Seriously though, how many ideas have you had yet you don’t seem to do anything with them?

You’ve got so much you want to do but you just don’t know where to start.

You tell yourself over and over, you’ll start tomorrow, you write the to do list but still nothing, zero, nada.

What if I told you there are bigger reasons why you are not making a start, even despite the fact you keep telling yourself you will get on with it. Make some steps and take some action.

When you have ideas and start to expand yourself, your brain is eagerly waiting for you to take that step forward.

Not getting started is your brains way of not putting you at risk.

You see, those connections your brain created with your body last time something didn’t go well, you were upset or worse still hurt, they’re stored as memories in the mind, body and energy.

Does feeling stuck come up for you?

When the part of your brain, the amygdala, feels uncertain, unsafe or that it can’t predict what’s going to happen next, it’s triggered.
Those fear responses can hang around in not only your brain but in your body too. Your brain is kind of wired toward the negative to keep you safe. When this happens, your body has some very real responses to what your brain is communicating.

You may notice your heart rate rising. Your anxiety may kick in and it can really start to have an impact on how you handle stress and the biggest impact, IT STOPS YOU FROM MOVING FORWARD.

The trouble is now you’ve created a response and if your brain was proved right in that you weren’t safe or things didn’t go to plan imagine how much overload is created in the brain and the body.  The responses your body has to this brain action are stored. Your body remembers the feeling of something not working. Your body knows that you felt hurt. Your body doesn’t like feeling that way so it agrees with the brain in creating reactions to stop you doing something.

Let’s say your brain tried to stop you from doing something that it didn’t think was “safe” when you were a child, or something happened to you without your consent but it happened anyway, the fall out to that can be huge. Your mind, body and energy have now created a pathway, your brain goes on overload, your body is in dis-comfort, your cells have been imprinted.
it’s going to be very difficult to override that imprint. Your future reactions are going to be based on this.

If you can see that there is something else that is holding you back and it’s not just this exact moment, the chances are there’s an imprint. Acknowledging this is the first step to making a change and recreating the pathway and the imprint on your mind, body and soul.

The impact of trauma or wounds can be worked on.

You can work on the brain programming and you can reconnect the body to a comfortable state. You can work on the responses and the reprogramming of the cells so the response isn’t keeping you stuck and you can start to embrace a new connection with yourself. This will create more harmony in the body.

You can show the brain you understand the risk and why it’s trying to communicate with your body what the impact could be and you can assure it that you know you’re safe to expand.
